Persona de la semana (parte 1)

Disclosure:
I am blatantly ripping this idea from Quaker Agitator's blog. Anybody who has visited his site is familiar with his unique formats and the very cool people he has high-lighted for various reasons, especially his love of music and music artists. I thought it would be cool to celebrate, express -or otherwise- a person that I admire, not admire or want others to be aware of.. (excuse the dangling preposition) .... a light-hearted way to segeway from one serious topic to the next... Besides, my carpal tunnel is killing me (I HAVE to learn to edit...) Thanks in advance to Quaker Dave for the formatting idea, ...credit is due.
My first "Person of the Week" (Time, eat our heart out...) is:

MICHELLE MALKIN
!!

What is it about this diminutive dynamo that has the left in a huff, adoring masses on the right, a fixture on the cable shows,... and me totally confused as to who she is?. I'm not kidding. I guess I've been in a cave somewhere because up to the time I saw a rant on her views on illegal immigration I had no idea who this powerful dame was!... I kept seeing her name come up like the plague in left-wing blogs and my curiosity was perked enough to give her due diligence.
So.... in the interest of fairness (don't you just love how I use that word so subjectively?)
I submit to you the following links.
I report, you decide :)
Her Biography
Her Website
What she has written recently
There!... now that you have the information needed, you can defend her (or not!) the next time you see someone's nipples pop out at the sound of her name.... (I have GOT to do this more often, this is just WAY too much fun... Next week? I return the favor and highlight someone the Right-Wing would love to burn at the stake....)

Malkin is incapable of logic and reasoned argument. She makes assertions she can't subtantiate. She adds only silly and vicious rhetoric to the public discourse and yet she actually gets paid for her opinions somehow. She's an Ann Coulter wannabe. She really is deranged--but she is cute looking. But she's deranged.

I am still flumoxed by all the hooplah on the Gal... I don't get it. I saw a few clips of her, and maybe those clips are not that acerbic but I did not see the 3-headed dragon everybody bitches about,...ahhhh talking heads,.. they do give us fodder, don't they?

i don't care for malkin because i have read her regularly. she is mean-spirited, bigoted, and self promoting. i don't bother to read the left because the bloggers in her category on the left are too shrill. she has ties to white supremecy groups(which i find to be a hoot as she is filippino heritage) and i don't find her terribly productive or thought provoking. there are much better blogs out there and to read her gives her and her ilk an audience. i say the same thing about the left. the extreme left is not one whit better than the extreme right. 2 sides of the same coin and it is too bad that we give them any credence whatsoever. malkin is a wannabe intellectual.

As always, you are a calming boat in a tempest-like blogger lake:) your comment are always fun to read, reasoned and thought-provoking. Thanks for dropping by,... where is the thesis Girl?...Im dying to read it! :)

i have been working on it but as i research- i get too angry to go on. angry at the sheer stupidity of people. the repub blogs that i have gone to make me want to scream. the issues focused on are anti-islamic and anti-mexican. they are bigoted and arrogant and mean-spirited. some of the left blogs i visit censor unwanted comments from right wing shills who troll around looking to post and piss off the left. the left bites and becomes shrill and then resorts to name-calling. it is really ugly tp. i don't know that i will have a synopsis that i originally planned- objective, pragmatic look- i may just do a rant and be done. sometime in the near future. i am so angry at the bigoted view of islam and illegal immigrants. not that i am an islam sympathisizer- or a proponent of illegal immigration. i just want to know who the hell these people are to sit holier than thou when the goddamned christian evangelical wingnuts are hijacking the civil liberties that allow their bigoted behavior in the first place? if you can answer me that- we may have a starting point. i wanted to link to some of the right blogs- but i don't know if i want that kind of horse manure on my blog.

Eegads... to think, I gave you the inspiration for an homage to this person?

I've got some serious bad karma to work off now. Thanks a bunch.

Quaker Dave!
I was very specific, I thanked you for the FORMATTING :)... (not the subject)..although I did think it ironic that I picked her first since it was your blog that introduced me to Madame Moonbat :)
Always a pleasure to see you in my huble rant-o-rama.

Dardin Soto said...

er... i meant "humble" rant-0-rama:)

I like that "Madame Moonbat." That's definitely gonna work for me. And she is the moon-batty-ist.

Betmo:
Let me address a couple of things for ya' here...
Malking: I think one of the things that gets people into hyperventilating-hystrionics is that most people are glutons for punishment. When they don't agree with somebody, or find the subject or thematic content abrasive, they dont stop! its like they like flogging themselves to have something to rant about. I was mentioning this to Quaker Dave today,.. as much as he rants against Fox News... why the hell does he watch it? You know what you are going to get, you know its going to put a burr under your ass, you know its going to ruin your night,... and yet people just keep going there.. like a freakin' drug. I really think the anger that most of us espouse is self-inflicting (hmmmm, I smell another posting). Tell me, why are most people pissed in the blogosphere? Not as much of the news, you cant't control what you get on the nightly whatever, not because of the wanderings on the net, same odds there. What gets people's nipples in a vise is that they keep going back to the same columninst, blogs, sites et al that they KNOW are going to rile them up enough to make a good excuse for a posting!
Maybe you specifically don't fall into this category, but just reading the dozens of blogs I snake through every day I can testify this to be true.
There are plenty of opposition blogs, commentary sites, political action group links that can give you the mantra of the GOP or the Right wing,..or whatever it is we search without the glutenous exposure to the idiots how just drop the verbal bombs to piss people off!
Example: I visited one blog (nameless..) it had traffic like the the ocean has sand, but i went there one time... figured out the kool aid, and said "the hell with this, I can get the message without the stupidity somewhere else"....
There is always goig to be the hacks, the shrills, the sophomores, the people that just yank your chain and push your buttons, etc ... from every corner,... religion, immigration, grass roots. Pick your poisons carefully and remember that if they control your passions better that you can control your emotions then you are just living another day to survive the mood, not to make your own mood... just my way of saying that there is plenty of opinion-ocean out there, no need to be in a little lake that dis-pleases you.
Love your blog Betmo... one of my favorites so far :)

thanks. i hear what you are saying- but i just can't find much to agree with on the right's ideology. it sounds ok on paper but the carry through leaves much to be desired. obviously, i find the left more palatable- because they just seem more welcoming overall. as odd as that sounds in the current climate. i know a guy that i went to school with- over 20 years and he is a normal guy- conservative- no soul. all about money and image and prestige- and while i know it is a stereotype i have really been finding truth in it. my way or the highway- we know better- wasp all the way. definitely not inclusive. i just don't think that the pros outweight the cons.

i hear what you are saying about not going to places that make you crazy- and i really shouldn't. i just feel that forewarned is forearmed and there are the 'trolls' out there looking at my stuff- why not look at their's? i have tried out several different right leaning blogs and the only 2 that i have found even remotely approachable are yours and publius'. most just suck. that's no way to learn though and if you don't feel and experience emotions- then you are as good as dead. my equilibrium has returned and i will continue to speak out on the issues i feel are the ones that are important and i will just have to deal with stupidity.

Dardin Soto said...

Hey.. the fact that you regail me with your time, that your find my conservatism views palatable is very flattering, and I thank you. Most people dont quite "get" me. They are sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop and me turn into a real "troll" (QD called me that....hmmm, is that something bad? :)

billie said...

although i think that you are making fun- trolls are evil and bad like the moonbats. :)

Dardin Soto said...

Hmmmmm Thanks! thats a very good idea, although it would scare the pants out of anybody who just happens to have had his speakers in full tilt,... like it happened to me when i went to your site :) Happy blogging!

I specifically dont' like Michelle Malkin because I saw her one day on Chris Matthews show. I think it was Hardball, not sure. He was questioning her and she was insinuating that Kerry had shot himself. Matthews tried to get her to actually make a quotable statement, not merely an insinuation, and she wouldn't do it. He kept saying something along the lines of, so you're saying that Kerry shot himself? She would reply something that made absolutely no sense. Finally Matthews concluded with if Kerry shot himself he should be going to a mental institution and not running for the presidency.

btw, I linked you to my site. Don't know why it took so long. Actually I thought I had already done it, then I discovered I hadn't. :)

p.s. I like the whole person of the week. but, did it have to be Michelle Malkin?? :)

Dardin Soto said...

LOL! Ellie, the reason for Malkin being first was that I could not find a person the left hated more (well, besides Bush), you should see who I have in store for the Republicans to hate me next week... epic!
